The welfare and safety of children who attend our school is our paramount concern.  We will promote the health, well-being and safety of the pupils in all we do.  Our children have the right to protection, regardless of age, gender, race, culture or disability. They have a right to be safe in our school.  The school understands the responsibilities set out under section 175 of the 2002 Education Act to work together in partnership with other agencies to help children to grow up in a healthy and safe environment.

We at Rodborough Community Primary School take our Safeguarding responsibilities very seriously. This means that we ensure that everyone working in our school has successfully completed the necessary clearances to enable them to work with children.

It also means that we have staff members who are specifically trained as the Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs) within school. These staff are the Headteacher; Mrs Halsey, Deputy Headteacher; Mr Bailey and the School Business Manager; Mrs Martindale.  The Head Teacher and School Business Manager have also completed the accredited safer recruitment training.

We also follow the Safeguarding Children’s Board local guidance and have systems in place to share concerns regarding children’s welfare with our DSLs, with parents and with relevant external agencies. Part of our legal duty to safeguard our children, may also include us needing to consult specifically with and take advice from, the Police or Children's Social Care, should the need arise.

By working closely together as staff and with our partner agencies, we firmly believe that we will continue to offer a safe learning environment for all our children.

Please take the time to read our policies and do not hesitate to contact the school should you have any questions.
