Purpose

  • To develop pupil voice across the school
  • To give the children an experience of democracy and politics.
  • To enable childre to instigate change.
  • To enable the children to lead projects across the school.
  • To develop teamwork and confidence.

Elections

All children in Year 5 and Year 6 are given the opportunity to apply for all the minister roles within the Pupil Parliament.  They will use supporting teams from across the whole school as and where necessary.

Prime Ministers and Deputy Prime Ministers shortlisted are asked to campaign for one week and will be voted for by the whole school.  All the other Ministers are chosen based on the quality of their application by the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister and members of the School Leadership Team.

All ministers stand for three terms, so that there are two changes to ministers in an academic year. 

NOTES

A previous PM or DPM can apply to be a minister in another term of office.

A previous minister can apply to be PM or DPM in another term of office.

Previous ministers cannot apply to be ministers again until the following academic year.
