A message from the class teachers - "We are so excited to be teaching Year 3."
Mrs Kirkham - "I grew up on a farm just outside of Stroud and attended Stroud High School before whizzing off to Bristol University to study Geography. I then moved to London to try my hand at recruitment and advertising before landing a job in a Hospital School. I then moved back to Gloucestershire to complete my PGCE at Bath Spa University. Following this, I taught Y2 for a couple of years in London, before once again returning to my homeland and beginning my journey at Rodborough. This will be my 12th year teaching here and during my time at Rodborough I have taught both Y2, Y3 and Y4. I have two daughters. My favourite things are family, friends, crafting, fancy dress and going on adventures."
Mrs Hodgins - Before moving to Gloucestershire, I grew up in Buckingham. My mum was a teacher at my school (after being a parent helper and then TA first) and I could see the joy she got from it. As I grew up, every opportunity I got, I would help her in her classroom; whether that was during the holidays with displays etc. or helping when the children were in. I then came to Cheltenham to train to be a teacher myself and fell in love with Gloucestershire. I never went back, and now I call Gloucester home. Renovating is a great hobby of mine. I love gathering ideas, designing and seeing a project come together and I also love spending time with my family at places like Slimbridge and Westonbirt, when it isn't raining!
The DreamTeam - How we make our job-share work....
"Mrs Kirkham will teach you on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday morning. Mrs. Hodgins will teach you on a Thursday, Friday and Miss Smith covers our PPA on a Wednesday afternoon. We use this PPA time to spend time handing over learning, passing on messages, planning next steps and ensuring consistency in our classroom and teaching. This planning time, and our similar styles in teaching mean that our job share works really effectively and hopefully adds some lovely variety to the week! Most importantly though, we love teaching together and we think this definitely helps!"
